Like many people, I had absolutely no idea that the New Brunswick government had stopped sending out vehicle registration reminders in the mail. Thankfully, I didn’t learn the hard way. Instead, it came up in a conversation at work. Someone had heard it, and decided that we should all be aware of it. Probably saved me a fine, thank you!
But then the obvious question of “In this day and age, why don’t they have something that sends you an email reminder?” The SNB website is actually very good, and has been used as a model for other government webportals. It’s extremely easy to pay for the vehicle registration online, so why couldn’t they use the system to send a reminder when it was time to do so?
Apparently now they have.
www.snb.ca/remindme is a nice, easy to remember URL. It doesn’t get any simpler than that. The hardest part of the process is probably making sure that you don’t change email addresses before the reminder comes due.
This is a useful service. Better sign up for it soon before Premier Shawn Graham shuts it down or sells it off.
