Well, my doctor wondered why I wasn’t on the CPAP trial when I saw her last time. Apparently the results of the test were fairly conclusive. “partial obstruction sleep apnea” Gee, what a surprise. Actually, the real surprise was why I hadn’t been contacted by the company after my doctor wrote the referral. I told her that I would follow up, and then promptly stuck the number away in my wallet and forgot about it.
Yesterday I was reading an article on sleep apnea and the kinds of things that it can lead to. Tiredness is obviously one of the main things. OK, I’m a shift worker… I can easily blame any tiredness on my shifts. But then it went into hypertension (check), heart disease (ouch), problems with mood (grrr) and memory (what?), and memory (OK, OK). It’s hard to write those off. Depression? Umm… Nightmares? I think I’ve outgrown those for the most part. Yeah, ok. So maybe this is something to look into.
I called the company yesterday and left a long rambling message for them. When I got home, I had a long rambling message waiting for me in turn. Apparently the really nice lady that I liked so much when I was in there last time left the company. Oh. 🙁 So now they’re short staffed, and had planned on getting back to me when they got caught up.
I haven’t called her back yet today, as I’m not sure when I can fit it into my schedule to go get the machine. That, and I’m still a little apprehensive about whether or not I can sleep with that thing attached to my face.
