I went to see Contagion last night. Wow. One of the better films I’ve seen in a long time! If you have the chance to see this movie, you should definitely do so. It has a great cast (including Lawrence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Marion Cotillard) and follows the different characters lives as they try to cope with a global virus pandemic. Without giving anything away, don’t bother getting attached to your favourite characters. This thing kills quickly.
I was really impressed with the tempo of the movie. It moves quickly, yet doesn’t feel like it’s bouncing all around. I also found it to be quite believable. It’s not a stretch of the imagination to imagine that something like that could happen.
And there was one particular line that made me laugh… when a scientist was telling a blogger that he’s not a real journalist.. and that “blogging is graffiti with punctuation“… I loved that!
Oh and for anyone who watches Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston had a small role as a military general… wow.. talk about transformation! No bald head, and no goatee… I kept thinking “Geeze that voice sounds familiar! Who IS that!?”

how’s the gore factor in this movie? I can handle blood, guts, etc….when it’s NOT realistic (like zombie movies)…but when it’s realistic…it REALLY bothers me. Would I be bothered? anything gross?
I don’t think there’s any gore at all. I don’t care much for that myself…. when these people die, the most you see is them laying on the floor with white drool coming out of their mouth… that’s it. You’re safe!
On a somewhat unrelated note… I really do not like horror movies at all… things jumping out to scare the hell out of me.. I don’t find that enjoyable at all… well, the very first movie preview for Contagion featured the movie Dream House.. Holy crap… I couldn’t even watch it! I had my eyes closed, and head turned for the entire preview… scared the shit out of me….
